Upload Audio

Upload an existing recording from an approved device or source, then review its timeline before you Finalise it.

Common supported formats

The shared maximum for one imported file is 500 MiB. Your plan's maximum recording duration also applies, even when the file is below the size limit.

If Ardela rejects an uncommon format, convert a working copy to .mp3, .wav, or .m4a.

How to upload

1. Open New recording, a recording draft, or start from a matter.
2. Choose Dictation for one speaker or Meeting for multiple speakers.
3. Confirm the client and matter if the recording belongs on a file.
4. Select Upload and choose the file.
5. Keep the page open while the file uploads.
6. Review the imported timeline.
7. Select Finalise to submit it for processing.

Upload alone does not approve or file the recording. Finalise starts the same batch-transcription process used by browser and mobile capture.

Processing

After Finalise, the recording moves through:

1. Submitting: Ardela validates the file and current timeline.
2. Processing: Ardela prepares the submitted audio and runs batch transcription.
3. Transcript ready: the current transcript is available for correction.

For a meeting upload, Ardela separates detected voices into speaker labels. A user must identify the people, correct assignments, and review the wording. See Meeting mode.

Review and generate

Once the transcript is ready:

1. Review and edit it in the Transcript tab.
2. Replay the source for names, dates, figures, and important legal wording.
3. Generate a note or document with an accessible template.
4. Check the generated draft before export or completion.

Tips

• Confirm that the firm is authorised to process the source recording.
• Use a stable connection and keep the page open during upload.
• Preserve the original file until the reviewed Ardela output is safely stored under the firm's policy.
• Split a file if it exceeds 500 MiB or the applicable duration limit.
