Editor Overview
Navigate the recording editor — tabs, metadata, and actions.
The recording editor is where you record, review, generate, and export. It stays open as you work — even when a new recording gets its permanent URL after the first save.
Opening the editor
| Route | Purpose |
|---|---|
/recordings/new | New draft recording |
/recordings/[id] | Saved recording |
You can pre-fill client and matter from client pages using ?clientId= and ?matterId= query parameters.
Header
The header shows:
- Title — auto-generated from speech on first pause if still "Untitled"
- Client / matter — link the recording to your case management
- Group — assign shared visibility
- Status badge — Draft, Processing, Complete, etc.
- Presence avatars — who else is viewing this recording
- Actions menu — export, send to queue, delete, and more
- Auto-save indicator — shows save status; click Save now to force a save
Tabs
| Tab | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Recorder | Start/pause recording, upload audio, generate notes |
| Transcript | Edit the full transcript with playback sync |
| Notes / Documents | AI-generated content tabs (reorder on desktop) |
Tab reordering is disabled while actively recording.

- Press
Ctrl+S/Cmd+S(disabled while recording or when typing in a field)

If you try to close the browser tab while recording or paused, Ardela warns you to prevent losing audio.
