Troubleshooting
Fix common issues with recordings, transcription, and sync.
Processing stuck
If a recording stays in Processing or Uploading for an unusually long time:
- Refresh the page and reopen the recording
- Check your internet connection
- Wait a few minutes — large files take longer
- Ask a workspace admin to use Manage recording from the recordings list to reset the status
Admins can change status, clear stuck processing flags, and reassign transcribers from the manage dialog.
Offline sync
Recordings made offline show Awaiting Transcription:
- Reconnect to the internet
- Keep the app open — sync runs automatically
- Status updates to Processing, then Transcript ready
If sync does not start, refresh the page while online. Ensure the PWA is installed for best offline support.
Install the PWA
For offline recording and an app-like experience:
Chrome / Edge: Click the install icon in the address bar, or Menu → Install Ardela
Safari (iOS): Share → Add to Home Screen
Android Chrome: Menu → Install app
Transcription quality
If transcripts contain frequent errors:
- Use a better microphone or move to a quieter room
- Add terms to custom vocabulary
- Speak clearly at a natural pace
- For meetings, reduce cross-talk and background noise
- Review and correct the transcript before generating notes — corrections improve downstream AI output
Upload rejected

| File too large | Split files over 500 MB |
| Unsupported format | Convert to .mp3, .wav, or .m4a |
| Upload fails mid-transfer | Retry on a stable connection |

Cannot save or generate
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Save shortcut ignored | You may be recording or focused in an input — click outside first |
| Generate disabled | Wait for transcript to be ready |
| Generation limit reached | Check Settings → Usage; contact admin to upgrade |
| AI generation failed | Retry — failed generations do not consume credits |
Screen capture has no audio
- Ensure Share audio is checked in the browser picker
- Share the meeting tab, not the entire screen
- Try Chrome or Edge — best screen capture support

Leave-page warning
Ardela warns before closing the tab while recording or paused. Click Pause first, wait for upload, then navigate away.
Still stuck?
- Contact your workspace admin
- Visit Support in the app
- Include the recording ID (copy from the row menu) when reporting issues
