Generate & Export

Create formatted notes and documents, then export from Ardela.

After your transcript is ready, generate structured output with templates and export to your firm's preferred formats.

Generate a note or document

  1. Open a recording with a ready transcript
  2. On the Recorder tab (transcript-ready state) or from the generate controls:
    • Toggle Note or Document
    • Select a template
    • Click Generate or press Ctrl+G / Cmd+G

Generation streams into a new tab. You can edit the result immediately.

Notes vs documents

TypeBest for
NoteInternal memos, case summaries, quick formatted text
DocumentLetters, reports, and templates with variables

Some document templates open a dialog to fill in variables before generation.

Edit generated content

Generated tabs behave like rich-text documents:

  • Edit directly in the tab
  • Select text for the bubble menu — format, fix grammar, expand, or custom AI edits
  • Use Clara split view for larger rewrites

Drag tabs to reorder on desktop (not while recording).

Transcript editing

The Transcript tab includes:

  • Word-level playback highlighting — click a word to hear it
  • Citations linking generated content back to source audio
  • Full rich-text editing toolbar

Correct the transcript before generating for best AI output.

Export options

From the actions menu or export controls:

FormatDescription
PDFPrint-ready export
WordDownload .docx
EmailOpens your email client with content
CopyCopy to clipboard

Documents with workspace document branding apply logo and styling on export.

Mark complete

When finished, use Mark complete from the actions menu or recordings list. Completed recordings appear under the Complete tab.

Usage limits

AI generation counts against your plan's monthly limits. Check SettingsUsage if generation is unavailable. Failed generations do not consume credits.

Send to transcriber

On Pro plans, send a recording to the human transcriber queue instead of (or after) AI generation. See For authors.
