Microphone Meetings
Record multi-speaker meetings with a microphone.
Record in-person meetings, interviews, and phone calls on speakerphone using your microphone.
Setup
- Open New recording or an existing recording
- Select Meeting mode
- Choose Microphone as the source
- Pick your input device from the gear menu
Before you record
- Place the microphone centrally so all speakers are picked up evenly
- Use a quiet room — background noise reduces diarization accuracy
- Ask participants to avoid talking over each other
- At the start, have each person say their name to help with speaker labels
Recording
- Click Start
- Conduct the meeting normally
- Click Pause when finished
Processing runs speaker diarization to separate voices into labeled segments.
Speaker detection
Ardela automatically detects the number of speakers. You can also set an expected speaker count before recording if you know how many participants there are.
After transcription
- Open the Transcript tab
- Review speaker labels on each segment
- Rename labels (e.g. "Witness", "Counsel") by clicking them
- Correct any misattributed speech
- Generate notes when satisfied
Continue recording
Return to the Recorder tab on a saved meeting to append more audio — useful if a session breaks for lunch.
