Templates
Create and use document templates in Ardela.
Templates turn raw transcripts into structured notes, letters, memos, and reports your firm uses every day.
Template types
| Type | Visibility | Managed by |
|---|---|---|
| System | All workspaces | Ardela |
| Workspace | Your firm | Admins |
| Personal | You only | Any user |
Using templates
When a transcript is ready:
- On the Recorder tab, toggle Note or Document
- Open the template selector
- Choose a template
- Click Generate
Templates load on demand — large template libraries stay fast.
Notes vs documents
- Note templates produce formatted text output in a new tab
- Document templates may include variables (client name, date, matter reference) filled via a dialog before generation
Workspace templates
Admins create shared templates under Settings → Templates. These ensure consistent output across the firm — same headings, sections, and formatting every time.
Personal templates
Any user can create private templates for their own workflow. Personal templates are not visible to other workspace members.
Best practices
- Start from a system template and customize for your practice area
- Include clear section headings so the AI knows where to place content
- Test with a sample recording before rolling out to the team
- Keep templates focused — one template per document type works better than one mega-template
