Custom Templates

Author reusable templates for your workspace.

Create templates that match how your firm actually writes — consistent sections, headings, and placeholders every time.

Create a template

  1. Open SettingsTemplates
  2. Click New template
  3. Choose Note or Document type
  4. Set visibility — Personal or Workspace (admin only)
  5. Write the template body with section headings and placeholders

Template structure

Good templates combine:

  • Fixed boilerplate — headings, letterhead sections, standard clauses
  • Placeholders — areas the AI fills from transcript content
  • Instructions — brief guidance in placeholder text improves AI output

Example structure for a case memo:

# Case Memo

## Summary
[Summarize the key points from the dictation]

## Facts
[List relevant facts in chronological order]

## Analysis
[Legal analysis based on the facts presented]

## Next Steps
[Recommended actions and deadlines]

Document variables

Document templates can include variables filled before generation — client name, matter number, date, recipient. These appear in a dialog when you generate.

Tips

  • Keep one template per document type rather than one catch-all
  • Use clear section headings — the AI maps transcript content to sections
  • Test with a real recording before sharing workspace-wide
  • Review generated output and refine the template iteratively
  • Coordinate with admins so workspace templates stay consistent

Permissions

  • Any member can create personal templates
  • Workspace templates require admin permissions
  • Members use templates during generation — they cannot edit workspace templates unless permitted
