Pillars
Extraction & Review
Work with pillar tables, citations, and cell review in Ardela.
After uploading documents to a pillar, define tables and columns to extract structured answers from your files.
Column types
| Type | Use for |
|---|---|
| Text | Flexible summaries or extracted phrases |
| Verbatim | Exact quotes from the source |
| Number / Currency | Amounts and figures |
| Date | Dates and deadlines |
| Boolean | Yes/No answers |
| List | Multiple items from one field |
Each column has a title and extraction prompt. AI column suggestions and prompt improvement help you get started quickly.
Running extraction
- Open a pillar table
- Add or edit columns
- Extraction runs automatically for new columns, or click Rerun on individual cells or columns
Extraction is precision-first — cells return empty when the document does not directly support an answer rather than guessing.
Cell status indicators
Each completed cell shows at most one status dot:
| Indicator | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Flagged (amber) | Marked for follow-up review |
| Stale (orange) | Column prompt changed since extraction — rerun to refresh |
| Reviewed (green) | Marked as reviewed |
| Locked (grey) | Locked — won't change on rerun |
Review workflow
- Click a cell to see its value and citation
- Open the citation to verify against the source document
- Edit the value manually if needed
- Flag cells that need attention
- Lock cells you've verified
- Mark reviewed when satisfied
Templates
Start from system templates for common diligence patterns, or create workspace templates (Pro) for repeatable table structures.
Export
Export table data to CSV or Excel from the pillar table view. Locked and reviewed status is preserved in exports.
