Pillars

Structured document extraction and review in Ardela.

Pillars extracts structured data from source documents into reviewable tables. Each cell links back to a citation in the original PDF or Word file — ideal for due diligence, contract review, and document-heavy workflows.

Available on all plans. Starter workspaces can store up to 25 pillar documents; Pro allows 500.

How Pillars works

Upload documents → Define table columns → AI extracts values → Review with citations → Export
  1. Create a Pillar and upload PDF or DOCX files
  2. Add a table with columns (text, dates, numbers, lists, and more)
  3. Run extraction — AI fills cells with source citations
  4. Review, flag, lock, or rerun cells as needed
  5. Export to CSV or Excel

Opening Pillars

Open Pillars from the sidebar (/pillars). From Home, use the launch card to start a new pillar.

Document preview

Click a cell citation to open the source document with highlighted text. PDF and DOCX previews support page navigation. If a document has a poor text layer (e.g. scanned images), extraction may be blocked until readable text is available.

Clara in Pillars

Clara opens in a split panel on pillar pages. Ask questions about your documents, search extracted data, or get help with review workflows.
