Clients & Matters
Link recordings and case work to clients and matters in Ardela.
Clients organizes your workspace around clients and matters (or encounters/claims, depending on your industry setting). Link recordings, documents, and Clara conversations to the right case.
Client management requires a Pro or Enterprise plan.
Opening Clients
Open Clients from the sidebar (/clients). The sidebar lists all clients; select one to view its matters.

Create clients and matters manually, or sync them from Clio Manage via Integrations.
Linking recordings
Assign client and matter from the recording editor header, or start a new recording pre-linked from a matter page using New recording.
Query parameters ?clientId= and ?matterId= also work on /recordings/new.
Matter hub
Each matter page shows:
- Activity timeline — recordings, tasks, documents, and updates
- Recordings — dictations linked to this matter
- Documents — files attached to the matter
- Clara — split-panel assistant with matter context
Visibility
Non-admin members see matters that have recordings they can access, plus matters where they are assigned a task. Admins and owners see all workspace clients and matters.
Industry labels
Your workspace industry setting changes labels throughout the app — for example Matter (legal), Encounter (healthcare), or Claim (insurance). The underlying features work the same way.
