Document Review

Review contracts and documents with Clara playbooks in Ardela.

Clara can review contracts and legal documents using playbooks — structured review frameworks that identify issues and suggest redlines.

Playbooks are different from Clara skills. Skills shape chat responses for tasks like summaries or chronologies; playbooks drive full contract review with editable redlines in the review editor.

Where to use document review

Open Clara on any page with the split panel:

  • Clara (/clara) — upload or reference a document
  • Recordings — review generated documents
  • Clients / matters — review matter documents
  • Pillars — review source documents in context

How it works

  1. Open Clara and attach or reference a document
  2. Ask Clara to review it, or select a playbook (e.g. NDA review, commercial lease)
  3. Clara analyzes the document against the playbook rules
  4. Review proposed redlines and comments
  5. Accept or reject each change via approval cards

Nothing is applied silently — all edits require your confirmation.

Playbooks

Playbooks define what Clara checks for — missing clauses, unfavorable terms, compliance issues, and more. When multiple playbooks could apply, Clara asks you to choose before generating redlines.

UK-focused playbooks are available for common contract types. Contact support for custom playbook needs.

Export

Reviewed documents can be exported to Word (.docx) with tracked changes and comments preserved.
